  7. The MCSS-9IM (Intelligent Multi-Channel Serial Card-Megabyte) is the most
  8. powerful PC-compatible serial care that GTEK has offered to date. It has nine
  9. separate RS-232 channels for input and output per card. All queuing of data,
  10. status and UART interrupts is handled by the coprocessor, thereby placing no
  11. processing load on your computer. True concurrent processing dramatically
  12. increases computer ``throughput.'' A device driver is included which provides
  13. DOS compatibility through BIOS Int 14H and expands Int 14H the handle up to 130
  14. channels. The enhanced BIOS INT14H device driver allows easy application
  15. program interface and is supplied with an interface to high level compiled
  16. languages such as Basic, Pascal, ADA, C, and FORTRAN. Examples with source code
  17. provide programming models to demonstrate ease of use with the INT14H driver.
  18. Utilities are provided which allow mapping intelligent channels to standard
  19. COM1: though COM4 channels and to initialize all of the intelligent channels at
  20. boot time. compatibility is so complete that you can even use the DOS MODE
  21. command to set up channels. Each card occupies only four I/O addresses. This
  22. address may be changed using the programmable option select feature to allow
  23. multiple MCSS-9IMs. You can access the card directly or for DOS compatibility,
  24. though BIOS Int 14H. Whichever way you go, 8 channels are always interrupt
  25. driven on transmit and receive with automatic Xon/Xoff handshaking. CTS/DTR
  26. handshaking is available on 6 channels. You can use as many MCSS-9IMs as you
  27. have slots for in your computer. The hardware interface to the MCSS-9IM is done
  28. with standard 6-conductor RJ-11 telephone type plugs. This frees up the back
  29. part of your computer and allows all 9 channels to come out one slot on the
  30. back of the computer. Cables, plug and DB25 connectors are available from GTEK
  31. also. Signals supported are TXF, RXD, CTS, CD and GND.
